Naturally embedded in any academic curriculum are community building themes. In all subjects we integrate character, values, respect for self and others, and the responsibility children have as members of the community.
In Grade IV Will Will study US History and History of the VI. It is filled with heroes and heroines facing moral dilemmas, and is a jumping off point for teaching social and emotional skills. The themes of character, values, respect for self and others, appreciation of differences among people, and the responsibility children have as members of the community appear in every aspect of our curriculum.
We will also be incorporating all Next Generation Grade 4 Science Standards into this curriculum. The Science Units are as follows:
Human Machine: Human Body, Vision, & the Brain
The Birth of Rocks: Earth’s Features & Processes
Waves of Sound: Sound, Waves, & Communication
Energizing Everything: Energy, Energy Transfer, & Electricity
